BONGAO, Tawi-Tawi - The local government of Tawi-Tawi is bracing for the influx of tourists, now that a new air travel route within BARMM has opened. To cater to visitors, the Bongao Multi-Purpose Center breaks ground on Thursday, June 9, 2022 that will showcase the culture and hospitality of the people of Bongao. The building is located strategically near the airport and the iconic Bud Bongao.

“It is the dream of everybody, it is the dream of gayat sim Bongao, na maganda yung pamumuhay natin dito. And I think, this will show to the people kung gaano ka progressive, gaano ka bilis yung development natin. And I hope the people of Bongao, not only people of Bongao, the Tawi-Tawi and BARMM will be very proud of what we did.” Mayor Jimuel Que said during the groundbreaking ceremony.

Mindanao Development Authority and the Provincial Government of Tawi-Tawi also forged a Memorandum Of Understanding which aims to provide technical assistance in the harmonization of Tawi-Tawi Development Plan that set strategic direction in accelerating the socio-economic development of the Province.

Tawi-tawi Governor Yshmael Sali is thankful of this undertaking as this will place the province back in the map.

Sali said.

MInDA Chairperson Secretary Maria Belen Acosta on the other assured that the agency is committed in helping the province in by integrating Mindanao.

Tawi-tawi is packed with tourist attractions both islands and highlands, and ready to accept visitors both local and foreign.

According to the 2nd Marine Brigade, the island province enjoys a relatively peaceful situation for more than five year now, and assures visitors of their safety during their stay.

Please come to Tawi-tawi and you will enjoy the province as well as you will have good memories after your visit here,” BGen. Romeo Racadio Jr., Commanding Officer of 2nd Marine Brigade said.

On the same week, MinDA in partnership with the BARMM Ministry of Trade, Investments and Tourism concluded the series of consultations to facilitate the formalization of BARMM’s barter trading activities, which is seen to provide economic opportunities and security to the communities residing and doing barter operations in the BASULTA-EAGA border areas.
