Chairman, Mindanao Development Authority
Seven months after the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) launched the One Mindanao One Data (0MOD) Program, Misamis Oriental makes history as the first Mindanao province to establish a digital database for its agriculture and fisheries sectors, including production maps and volume and market access.
The OMOD is the regional application of a national agriculture and fisheries database program which I started when I was Secretary of Agriculture but failed to complete when I resigned and moved to MinDA two years ago.
The program was first introduced to Misamis Oriental Governor Yevgeny "Bambi" Emano who eagerly embraced the OMOD concept.
For seven months, the MinDA IT management team led by IT Consultant Noel Degamo worked with the Misamis Oriental Provincial Government to gather the needed data for the establishment of the database.
Today, Misamis Oriental becomes the first Mindanao province to have an accurate database for its farmers, fishermen, production areas, geo-maps and market information.
Each and every individual farmer and fisherman will be included in the database including the commodity the production area, the volume, the assistance provided by the government and the expected harvest date.
The Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental, represented by Gov. Yevgeny “Bambi” Emano, and the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA), signed a Memorandum of Agreement in simple ceremonies in Cagayan de Oro City on Nov. 3.
Gov. Emano described the program as the final step to the agricultural and fisheries modernization of the province.
The Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) assisted the Provincial Government in the gathering of data and in the establishment of the data base which will be linked to the MinDA Tienda program.
The Misamis Oriental model will now be replicated in all the other provinces in Mindanao as MinDA prepares the digitalization of the whole region.
